Nicht weit von unserer Unterkunft befindet sich der Parque Forestal am Südufer des Río Mapocho. Mitten im Park ist auch das Museo de Bellas Artes in einem der schönsten Gebäude Santiagos beheimatet:
Not far away from our accomodation is the Parque Forestal located, directly at the south bank of the Mapocho river. Amidst the park the Museo de Bellas Artes is domiciled in one of the most beautiful buildings of Santiago:
Vom Parque Forestal ist es nicht weit bis zum Cerro Santa Lucia, einem kleinen Hügel mitten in der Innenstadt, nördlich der zentralen Hauptstraße Alameda (Avenida Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins):
It is not a long distance from the Parque Forestal to Cerro Santa Lucia, a small hill close to the city centre:
Das unmittelbare Stadtzentrum und die Schaltzentrale der Macht ist hier nicht mehr weit entfernt. Richtung Westen folgt, wenngleich in verschiedenen „Quadros“, zunächst die Plaza de Armas und anschließend der Palacio de la Moneda, der Sitz der chilenischen Präsidentin:
The immediate city centre is not far away from here. In the west of Cerro Santa Lucia is the Plaza de Armas-place and the Palacio de la Moneda located, the residence of the Chilean President:
Auf der anderen Seite des Río Mapocho liegt der aufstrebende Stadtteil Bellavista mit seinen Restaurants, Bars und Kneipen – sowie den bunten Straßen und Häusern:
At the other side of Río Mapocho the borough of Bellavista is situated. It entices with its small bars and restaurants and the colored streets and houses:
Und es geht hoch hinaus: mit einer Standseilbahn gelangt man auf den Cerro San Cristòbal, der um einiges höher ist als der Cerro Santa Lucia und eine tolle Aussicht über die chilenische Hauptstadt, die Anden und die Küstenkordillere bietet:
And it gets up and up: a funicular railway leds to Cerro San Cristòbal who is higher than Cerro Santa Lucia. It presents great views over the chilean capital, the Andes Mountains and the coastal cordillera:
